Merger Communication: Patient Communications

The Partners of Stroud Valleys Family Practice and Locking Hill Surgery are delighted to announce that the application to merge both practices into a single, new partnership was approved by NHS England on August 26th.  The new partnership will be called the Five Valleys Medical Practice and go live on April 1 2022.  We will move into our new premises at the beginning of September 2022 and building work has already started.

Both practices are committed to provide an environment within our new shared building that is patient centred, welcoming, caring and accessible.  We are excited to be working together to continue our shared drive for high quality healthcare provision with continuity of care, that is both timely and safe, as a high priority.  We are hopeful that by creating a larger merged organisation we will be able to provide an increased range of accessible services that will benefit all our patients.

Rest assured that your registration will automatically be transferred to the new practice and we will ensure that measures are in place to maintain your “usual” doctor preference.  We will be creating an FAQ document which will be posted on our websites as soon as possible and we welcome any questions from you regarding this news.

For the practice teams, the next phase of this project is to start our joint working together, with the aim of sharing and developing as many joint processes as possible. Where we can make changes before we move, we will aim to do so to make the transition in to the new building as smooth as possible for both our staff and all our patients.  However we also recognise that there will be a lot to do and not everything will be “nailed down” before we move.

If you want to submit a question with regards to the merger or the new building then please contact Annette Brown or Stuart Sedgewick-Taylor as below.  Please also consider whether you would like to join our patient participation group, who we will be meeting with regularly during the merger process.

Many thanks.
